Changing skin tone in DAZ Studio

A few people have been asking me how to get darker skin tones for their DAZ Studio characters. If you are new to DAZ Studio, then this technique is not obvious, so I understand how people can get confused.

The following video addresses the issue. I should clarify that this workaround does not come from me. There was a post that I read on the DAZ Forums years ago about changing a character's skin tone. I made note of it for my reference and luckily, at the time of this writing, that post still exists.

You can take a look at it here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/15304/. So thanks to KickAir 8P for posting the information initially.

The process

In this video, I demonstrate how to make the default skin texture that comes with DAZ Studio's base figures mimic the appearance of a melanin-rich skin texture.

Full disclosure, in my humble opinion, this is not the best process for achieving the look of a melanin-rich skin tone. The best way would be to purchase a quality texture from the DAZ store or another vendor of 3D content. However, if you don't have the money available, and you want to experiment a little at no cost this method works fine.
